magic on sunday: bury the seeds

in march, i had a serendipitous meeting with my friend lisa while in austin during sxsw. it was dusk, the bats had just emerged from the 6th street bridge, and i was starving. i had seen on instagram that she was in town, left a comment saying i was around too, and as it tends to go, it ended up being easier for us to catch up in texas than in brooklyn.
everyday, lisa writes poems for strangers and magically, there’s something about her demeanor that makes it really easy for anyone to spill their secrets. as we caught up over bites and cocktails in the lounge of the driskill, she stopped our conversation and asked if she could write me a poem. a few seconds later she was hammering out the following on her typewriter:
push your envelope
suck the juice till it’s all gone
then bury the seeds
i find myself repeating that last phrase in my head on a weekly basis: "...bury the seeds." it's become my mantra, a mission of sorts, a call to see every experience as an opportunity to bloom.
as i've channeled this perspective over the past few months, i've felt a relieving and refreshing shift: no longer are experiences confined to just "good" or "bad," rather they're all moments that give way to growth.
when you push play on this week’s playlist, i hope it inspires and reminds you to bury a few seeds of your own.
