magic on sunday: electrically charged 🔌
i pulled up my train ticket and noticed the date as my mom pulled into to d.c.'s union station this morning. “it's may 21st already?” i questioned out loud, feeling like i’ve done so much as of late, i hardly have a sense of time.
this past week felt particularly upside down, thanks to a mix of jet lag, allergies (which was really a cold in denial), jumping back into work after vacation, and three concerts. oh, and a 48 hour jaunt to d.c. and back which included a drive to west virginia to visit harper's ferry.
it feels chaotic to write, and i know i've talked a lot about slowing down, but secretly? i kind of thrive operating like this. move at warp speed until i can't. and in those moments where i can't, i love the deep indulgence of a slow morning, a netflix binge, and a saturday night in.
in an "ideal" world, i'd be the kind of person who is routined and balanced. there's something so appealing and comfortable about that. but the reality is, i love the swirl. navigating it feels like the the deepest expression of living this thing called life.
on thursday night i felt the embodiment of this. i'd already been to two concerts on sunday and tuesday, i hadn't packed for my d.c. trip the next day, and my head/sinuses were feeling the full effects of spring allergies. going to bed at 7pm would have probably been a good idea. but somehow i found myself dancing in a packed crowd full of energy and music. i left feeling energized, and i couldn't envision spending my time or energy in any other way.
when i hugged my dad before heading to the train station this morning, he thanked me for coming down to see them right after i had been on vacation, and told me he doesn’t know how i have the energy to bop all over the place.
i don’t really either, but i’m soaking it up for as long as i can.
