magic on sunday: fresh greens
there’s a plant on my bathroom windowsill that i’ve had for about three years - a resilient zz plant - to be exact. a few months ago after coming back from a trip to miami, i noticed that one of its stems had experienced a bit of a growth spurt while i was away. it was unusual for it to grow that fast, particularly in the winter. a few days later, i noticed another stem fresh and green, ripe with new growth.
i’ve been thinking about that plant and his winter growth spurt a lot recently. the conditions for it didn’t add up. he sits next to a window that gets cold in the winter, well below his optimal temperature. it wasn’t the right season for growth, but he did anyway.
that’s sort of where i feel like i’m at these days. surprisingly growing. as a make-things-happen kinda person, i usually feel in charge when i want to make a change or grow in a particular personal area (lol, i guess it’s cute that i think i have control over this?)
but lately, i feel like growth is unexpectedly coming for me. while trying hard to not be sidelined by it, i’m swallowing this dose of humility that the universe is laughingly sending my way, and spending more of my idle time dissecting these sudden lessons. I’m almost certain that the outcome will be a lot more impactful than anything i could have self-directed.
