magic on sunday: retrograde
hi. I'm meghan's friend, adrianne. meghan is in costa rica soaking up the sunshine and playing with jungle monkeys. so I'm taking over this week's magic on Sunday to share a small piece of me through words and sounds.
one month ago I was laid off from my job. I was miserable there and while the transition was forced, it was a relief. since it happened I've been seeking a bit of guidance to help me make sense of it all and figure out a path forward. for me that guidance comes in the form of astrology.
a few days into my unemployment I received a newsletter to my inbox from Astrologer, Jennifer Racioppi. the newsletter was about a new moon, but more importantly, about a retrograde ending. you know, that awful force everyone blames when shit goes wrong? she described how most people see retrograde as a forced slowdown, where nothing goes your way. technology breaks, deals fail, miscommunications happen. but what she really wanted you to see is that retrograde is an opportunity to retrospect. what did you learn during retrograde and how can you apply this knowledge moving forward?
here I was, forced into unemployment, but instead of feeling stalled I could take it into my own hands. i could use this free time as a way to take stock of what things made me so miserable at my job and what I liked. i didn't have to be the victim in this scenario.
i interviewed at a ton of places but I followed my gut. if it felt like a bad fit I didn't pursue it. then, this week, during my fourth week of unemployment I started freelancing at a place I really like and feel appreciated at. this is surely not the end of this lesson but it feels like progress. and that makes me feel like I can make this a successful failure.
if you're interested in astrology and how the sun, moon, and stars affect your life I encourage you to read jennifer's newsletter as well as the forever conscious astrology section.
