magic on sunday: speed bump 🚧

hello from austin! it's 5:30 in the afternoon on sunday and i'm currently laying in bed with my left ankle propped up on a pillow, surrounded by a makeshift ice pack.

you see, i had the most millennial, sxsw accident: i fell and twisted my ankle because i was walking and texting. i'm a naturally clumsy person, so marry that with the chaos of an event like sxsw and the general distraction of texting, and you've got my personal doom. thanks to a quick trip to urgent care, a doctor with a giant white mustache, and a very stylish air cast, i've been able to function pretty normally, but at a muuuuuch slower speed.

aside from being annoyed at myself for making such a silly mistake, i've been reminded that multitasking is hardly ever fruitful, at least for me. slowing down and approaching everything with pace has been my mantra as of late, and the minute i veered off course, i saw the impact.

tearing my acl three years ago prepared me well for this sort of forced slow-down, and thankfully, it's much less severe. so i'm taking it in stride and using my ankle icing time to listen to some of the bands playing at sxsw. this week's playlist has a few of my faves for you to enjoy.
