magic on sunday: the last 31 days of summer

there are 31 days until the end of summer and i’m torn.
the extended sunlight from june to august means long and lazy sundays, getting off a few subway stops early to absorb some extra vitamin d, day trips to the beach, nights spent on rooftops, and no shortage of ways to indulge.
but there’s also the “make-you-crazy” heat, which if you’ve experienced new york city’s weather in the past two weeks, you know what i mean. lately, i’ve found myself cursing it: it’s too humid! my electricity bill is $30 more expensive this month! i’m melting on the subway!
i’ve spent more mental energy than i’m proud to admit wishing the summer away. “i’m ready for fall!” i’ve declared. but with fall comes winter, and everyone who has a few nyc winters under their belt knows it means one thing: misery.
i get it. this is a pretty ridiculous thing to complain about and i know i’ll be regretting it come december when the days go dark at 4pm. so with that in mind, i’ve comprised a playlist of songs that remind me of summer. i plan to break it out in a few months when i’m trudging to the subway in my sleeping bag jacket, snow and cold air fogging up my glasses, and i’m longing for the warm (ok, hot) days of summer.
