Wow, this means so much to me—thank you so much for sharing! I’m so glad the concept of schemas helped you with your kiddo, but also for yourself!! That was what I was hoping to explore. I think the *whole world* is in a schema update right now, like.. we all need to figure out new ways of being both in early parenthood, but also life in general!
Truly, learning about Schemas, as it relates to my child, really helped me orient the way I engage with her in certain scenarios. Such a game changer! <3
And wow, you're so right - the whole world really is going through an update and it's so apparent how rocky it is to be so destabilized from our default way of being.
Oh my heart. This means more than you know!! I felt especially vulnerable sharing that essay. Thank you for reminding me to keep going and to lean into the tenderness. Also, we have been connected for 7 years?! What an honor. Thank you for being on this journey with me. Also, this has inspired me to share roundups of what I have enjoyed on Substack. And last but absolutely not least, my baby's first name is also Zora 🥹🙏🏾✨💓
omg, look at us and our Zoras!! 🥰💖 I love that so much! I'm so glad you shared what you did - the nuance and the "I love being a mother and it's still so hard" parts of motherhood are important to share out loud. Please keep going, your voice is so important here! And yes, I think maybe I first found you on YouTube? Maybe Instagram? So happy that I did, and especially to be connected here all these years later!
I love these monthly reblogs, and really enjoy reading all the things you enjoyed reading!
"Recently, I’ve been overwhelmed with the feeling that all the time I have in any day belongs to someone or something else" -- I have thought about this a lot, and have also tried to reclaim my time. I've started time blocking my personal calendar too more loosely but I love the screenshots you shared—intentional yet low pressure.
Also, I'm still eyeing a Brick since you suggested it, and my fear around it is likely a very telling reason why I should just go ahead and buy one already..
"Intentional yet low pressure" should be my general parenting mantra - haha. But yes! I've really found time blocking, even aspirationally, to help me visibly see the time that's available to me, is so helpful. I say go for the Brick if you feel like you need it. I love that the price point is fairly low and that there's no recurring subscription. I've honestly probably made back what I've spent on it by being more intentional about my time.
Thanks so much for sharing such a vulnerable and human perspective - I loved it so much and resonated with so much of it. Being pregnant is just the tip of the iceberg, no one sees what goes on underneath. You made so much of what's under there more visible. Sending you all the good things! <3
Of course! I loved the message and it's something that's been very top of mind for me. I've just turned 39 and while I don't think 40 is some magical turning point, I feel very drawn to thinking about how to implement everything I'm ready for and want in my next chapter. And none of that stuff will schedule itself. Thanks for the friendly reminder!

All of this. Sending you a virtual hug, beautiful mama!
